2020 was the year no one saw coming. It’s been a tough year for the entertainment industry, but we’re looking ahead to a brighter future.

At Casting Frontier our goal is to empower you to take your acting career to the next level. As this year draws to a close, we want to help you make the most out of 2021. The process of casting and auditioning has changed a lot this year. Adapting to these changes, we’ve improved our platform to work smarter and harder for you.

With our tools and services, you can take charge of your career — even during a global pandemic. From open casting call notices to virtual auditions, we’re here to help you turn your dreams into reality.

As we move into this new year, we want to share the resources available to you at Casting Frontier. Allow this blog post to serve as your guide to leveling up your acting career in 2021.

Update Your Talent Profile

First up, it’s time to get those new headshots you’ve been thinking about. New photos can catch a casting director’s eye and get you a second look. Updating your photos also shows casting that you’re actively working to improve yourself and your career. Make sure your demo reel is up to date as well. Get a pro to add new footage so it looks flawless.

Once you’ve got fresh photos and videos add them to your Casting Frontier talent profile. While you’re at it, check to make sure your profile is up to date. Add any new credits and skills you’ve acquired to your resume. Many actors forget how important it is to keep your measurements and clothing sizes current. Double-check everything so your profile can be found easily by casting directors searching for someone just like you.

Submit to Casting Calls

Now that you’ve got fresh pictures and your profile is current, it’s time to start submitting yourself. One big myth we’re constantly debunking is that you need an agent to book jobs. This is 100% false. You absolutely can get cast without an agent by submitting yourself to casting calls. With the Casting Frontier direct submit board your career is in your hands.

New casting calls are posted daily, so you’ll want to check it often. You’ll find acting jobs in every category from commercials, to film, to industrials, to modeling gigs, and even reality projects. Booking small jobs like these are a great way to build up your credits, hone your craft, and get some experience under your belt. Check out the Casting Frontier direct submit board to find casting calls.

Step up Your Self-Tape Game

Once you get into the groove of submitting yourself for roles via the direct submit board, the next step is to prepare for auditions. Many casting offices are conducting first-round auditions exclusively over self-tape these days. So it’s time to master your self-tape routine if you haven’t already. Take a look at this self-tape guide for everything you need to know to put together a killer audition all on your own.

When you get a CF Cast Self Tape request don’t stress. Our platform is the easiest way to send your tape to casting quickly and securely. You don’t have to worry about emailing a large video file or struggling to upload an .mp4 to a storage site. With CF Cast the process is simple and you can even do it straight from your phone. We’ve put together this CF Cast step by step guide to walk you through recording and submitting your self-tape.

Get Comfortable With Virtual Auditions

Virtual auditions have skyrocketed over the past few months. Unlike a self-tape, a virtual audition happens in real-time. When asked to attend a virtual audition you’ll receive an invitation to join a video conference with casting. They’ll be able to direct you and record your audition using our software. Make sure you have a good internet connection and log in a few minutes early. Learn more about Casting Frontier’s virtual auditions here. Once you receive a virtual audition notice, you’ll want to check out this step by step guide on how to enter a virtual audition.

This past year has taught us that nothing is certain. You can’t wait around for things to happen for you, you must take charge of your life and career. Use the resources available to you at Casting Frontier to start working toward your dream.

Cheers to making the most out of 2021!
