Movie studios and producers are deliberate about what happens to the iconic costumes and props featured in their films once the shoot wraps. Many times, items are meticulously documented, boxed up, and stored as the productions’ accounting departments track them as assets. Other times, such memorabilia is sent to rental house businesses. But sometimes, one way or another, actors manage to take home significant pieces—to serve as keepsakes of their time in character, to memorialize their hours working with cast and crew, or to serve as a prize for having contributed to a successful project. Here are some famous actors who revealed they took cherished items home when their films wrapped.

When Chris Pratt was a kid, he spent much of his time fantasizing he was a space adventurer, so when he got to actually play Marvel’s Peter Quill aka Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy, he felt the urge to keep a momento. In fact, Pratt admits he stole wardrobe items—but for virtuous reasons, of course. In an interview with Panzer TV, the A-lister explained, “I stole the jacket and some of the wardrobe so that, if this movie comes out and does what everyone hopes it can, I can follow the example of someone—say, like [Seahawks quarterback] Russell Wilson—and go visit kids. If it was a big enough movie to where it would mean something to a kid who’s sick in the hospital for Peter Quill or Star-Lord to come visit them, I’ll do that. I think that’s awesome, man. That would give me real meaning for this movie, you know? … The coolest things would be that my son can one day see this and that maybe I can go affect some kids in a positive way; be a good role model for them.”

For ten seasons Sandra Oh played Cristina Yang on Grey’s Anatomy. Her performance was acknowledged with a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Series early on, as well as a big paycheck and fame. When she decided it was time to leave the medical drama, she admits she stole a prop from the set to remind her of her career-changing role. The Canadian-American actress told People TV, “The best thing I’ve ever taken from the set is the rug in Owen and Cristina’s apartment on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ before they broke up. It’s in my living room.”

Dakota Johnson revealed during a Twitter Q&A for Glamour U.K. that she stole wardrobe items from the set of Fifty Shades of Grey. “I stole lots of underwear—they were comfortable,” she wrote. Johnson portrayed Anastasia Steele in the film based on E. L. James’ novel of the same name. But that’s not all she took. She also admits she brought home one of the props from the movie. ”I do have a flogger in my house (it’s in the garage with dust),” she shared.

Robert Downey Jr. revealed he kept a huge letter “A” after The Avengers: Age of Ultron shoot wrapped. “I have it!” he told Jimmy Kimmel. “I said, ‘Why is this in England? Send it back to L.A.—I’ll put it in my office.’”

Reese Witherspoon’s contract for Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde allowed her to keep the entire wardrobe of her character Elle Woods. In fact, in an interview on The Graham Norton Show, she revealed that it included 77 pairs of Jimmy Choo shoes.

Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver, who played Rey and Kylo Ren respectively in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, were given lightsabers from the set. But Ridley says she refuses to keep it in her house for fear that someone might break into her house to steal it.
